Your doctor may use terms like mild, moderate and severe to describe your psoriasis. In general, severity is classified as:2,10

Mild
Only a few patches,
less than 3% of the
skin surface.

Moderate
3% to 10% of the skin surface.

Severe

skin surface.
However, if you are unable to cope with your daily activities, due to psoriasis affecting your hands or feet (including your nails) for example, then your psoriasis may be considered to be severe even though it affects less than 10% of your body surface.
To give you an idea of skin surface, your palm represents about 1% of your body’s total skin surface.
