Psoriasis and relationships

For many people with psoriasis, a common problem is that other people do not seem to understand what they are going through and may have misconceptions about their condition.8

Finding out as much as possible about the condition and passing information on to family and friends can be the best way of regaining control. There are a number of support groups that offer downloadable or printed information about a variety of topics related to psoriasis.

If you are single, having psoriasis can affect your self–confidence and make it difficult for you to form new relationships. You may worry about what other people think or spend a lot of time trying to hide your condition.

However severe your psoriasis is, it is usually best to be open and honest about it. If you explain how you are feeling, people are more likely to offer the support you need. There is no need to put on a brave face if you are finding it hard to cope.
